Gadir is a sensory exploration of the coastal town of Cádiz (Spain) through a series of instruments that synthetise evocative smells, sounds, textures and visuals.
R E T I N A E
Retinae (lat. plural retina) is a dispenser of suggestive imagery from Cadiz.
The discs can be pushed out of the container using the porous tool. The images printed on each circle can be better glimpsed using the light coupled in the pod, when using GADIR in a dim afternoon of nostalgia. Once used, the discs can be returned to the main tower.
O D O R B I S
Fresh blankets, orange blossom, firewood, hot coffee, a beloved one's perfum...
Odorbis (lat. smell + spheres) is a warehouse of scents. In this station, past memories can be condensed and preserved in biogel spheres.
M U R M U R
Murmur (lat. whisper) is a whispering speaker for peaceful moments of nostalgia. 2 evocative audio clips are included in the porous player:

6:46 minutes of a virtual street situation. These 6:46 minutes of an apparent normal day in the streets of Cadiz has been digitally designed by combining various random statements said by local people from Cadiz in different interviews and conversations (experimental clip)
M O D U L O M A D R E
MODULO MADRE (Mother Module) is the main matrix into which the sensory pods can be rooted in.
The shape of the attachment system is inspired in female breasts, representing motherhood.
In order to make the main platform, I worked along a local manufacturer, who obtained and cut the stone to the size and shape I designed. The platform is made of "piedra ostionera" a local shellstone that is naturally found in the coasts of Cádiz. The auxiliary legs are made of recycled metal rods.
