    Nicholas Achuthan (2023)

Nicholas joined Cardenas lab at the start of his sophomore year and shortly began working on laser frequency stabilization for on-chip interferometry under the guidance of Meiting Song. Following his work with Meiting, Nicholas began working in quantum optics, devising a new method of generating hyperentangled photon pairs on-chip using nonlinear optics. In the fall of 2022, he was able to present this work at the University of Rochester Center for Coherence and Quantum Optics. For his capstone project, he is currently working on observing and characterizing single photon emitters in silicon nitride thin films.

Next fall, Nicholas will pursue a PhD in applied physics with a focus in quantum and nonlinear integrated photonics. Graduate Story

    Evelyn Ferwalt (2023)

The lab's friendly environment helped propel me and my research skills to land an internship at MIT Lincoln Lab summer of 2022, where I was fortunate enough to win first place in their intern design competition. [I have been accepted to Columbia for my PhD, where I will be working with professor Keren Bergman on her Center for Ubiquitous Computing (CUbiC), and I couldn't be more excited.] I wouldn't be where I am today without the help of the entire Cardenas lab family.
